Stung after the Hornet leaves

Go on. Ask me if I care whether Charlotte gets another NBA franchise. Ask me.

A story says the former Hornets haven is likely to get an expansion franchise. But the city would have to pony up … a new arena with lots of luxury suites and club seats … a $300 million expansion fee (nine times more than what George Shinn paid for the Hornets in 1988) … a league requirement that Charlotteans rent a large portion of those suites and seats (did someone say PSLs?) before a franchise would be awarded.

What about you? What do you think? Should you care that Charlotte gets an NBA franchise? And gets fleeced in the process?

Sometimes, I’m really glad I don’t live in a “major league” city any more.
