I was outraged this week. Palm, whose merits I’ve touted for years, turned into Microsoft. It was a transformation that happened quickly. A new product with old technology (Windows – pick your system – anyone?). The Zire. I de-Zire a congressional investigation. What’s the SEC doing about it? How about consumer groups? People should be outraged.
Here we have a hand-held device. Sleek, stylized, useless. Here’s the trouble: It’s 2 mb of storage. Duh. I’ve got one of those, you Palmites. It’s called the m100 and I paid significantly more for it. The Zire? No add ons, as in extra memory, a modem, yadda, yadda, yadda. No Bluetooth. NO REASON TO BUY ONE!!! At 99 bucks, I should be asking for some money back on my m100.
Cell phones have more features. The iPod? I’ll buy one of those before I pick up this unde-Zire-able products. Come on Palm, get a clue.
I guess the marketers DID get a clue. Microsoft has been doing this for years. Oh well…
