A reprieve then a second thought

My kids got out of the dog house tonight. After a week of no TV I let them watch "Barbie Swan Lake." The sad thing is, I’ve forgotten why they lost TV for a week. I think it was the 2-year-old who committed the infraction, but I honestly can’t remember.

Based on my observation, though, we’re going to be doing more no TV for a week around here. They have both been the sweetiest little pair of tadpoles, well for the most part.

After about 40 minutes of the movie, Susan came home with dinner, our Friday night ritural of Outback takeout (We’ve given up on trying to go out for awhile). I promised the kids juice but thought they might like ginger ale. Unfortunately, we only had enough for one. I gave Camille the choice and she chose a juice box instead of the soda. Abby was happy with the soda, but as little sisters do, Camille got highly jealous and wanted the soda.

What came next, I will attest, could be aptly described as (with props to the Arkansas Razorbacks) "40 minutes of hell."

She screamed. She cried. I threatend. She channeled Linda Blair.

But between the head spinning and pea soup spitting, she did manage to suck down the juice box.

We ALL finally got over it and she managed to down some dinner. And guess what she had the nerve to ask afterward?

"Can I have a treat?"
