Feeling like a rubber band

No posts for weeks! As Lili Von Shtupp said, “I’m so tired.”

  • Tired of doing multiple jobs (Nov. 11 can’t come soon enough! I get rid of my split personalities)
  • Tired of losing in fantasy football
  • Tired of trying to solve seemingly simple problems complicated by complex people
  • Tired of NOT winning lotto

I feel like I’m in the “In Living Color” skit with the world’s hardest-working Jamaican family.

Now, on to blogging. I have a backlog of things to write about and I’ll get to them soon enough.

But, I first want to reflect on the past weekend and this Tuesday.

First, the family went to the Renaissance Festival near Charlotte this weekend. Way too cool for words. We met some friends and ate HUGE turkey legs and spiced nuts and watched weired people in medieval garb make jokes (Don Juan and Miguel are the bomb!). The kids even rode an elephant! Well, I did too, but it was more fun for them. I just felt sad for the poor beast ’cause he had to carry me around.

We met some friends there. They’ve been going the past several years and showed us the ropes. Introduced us to some of the performers and made it a great time. We’re there again next year.

Second, I can’t wait for Tuesday to be over. We’ll have a new president or we won’t; we’ll have a new governor or we won’t, and we’ll have new judges or will we care? I guess I’ll pull the lever for at least two I know personally or through spouses, but otherwise, how much do the masses know about judges? I digress.

The real reason I’ll be happy Tuesday will be over is because I’ll have to work twice that day: in the morning doing my non-regular job and at night, again doing another non-regular job. In between, I’ll be going to class — for a break. I’ll see my kids for about two hours in the morning and won’t see them again until Wednesday.

Glad this mess only comes once every four years.

My advice to anyone who’s reading this: Go vote!!!

Oh, and if you’re looking for Kid’s Voting, they MOVED FOUR YEARS AGO!!! Call them at 373-8773. Don’t call their old number. Please!!!

Why? I have it. One of my other jobs is to answer their calls.
