Howdy, ya’ll

Well, I am feeling my shitkickin’ Southern rock roots now, folks. Dickie Betts is on the Grammys, playing “Ramblin’ Man,” And it just so happens that earlier today, I was surfing my iTunes library, from Joni Mitchell to Eric Clapton to the Allman Brothers, stopping to give a 5-star rating to “Jessica,” one of the great jams of all time.

That list should give you an idea of my schizophrenic tastes in music, and in fact, most things.

What should you know about me? To start with, I love my husband, my children, and my job. And I am a fiendish devotee of awards shows. The Oscars represent the zenith of the awards show season, but the Grammys run a close second. I wrote about this rather shameful obsession last year in Go Triad; it has a lot to do with seeing famous people indulge in bad behavior and fashion faux pas.

Case in point: Jennifer Lopez. Who dresses that woman? My pick for worst outfit so far goes to that baggy glitter gown and thrift shop fur she wore in her musical number. My pick for best fashion so far: Quincy Jones’ Ray Charles shirt. The bomb, my man!

So…I’m out here now. Be patient with me as I find my way in the blogosphere.

Well howdy back at ya’ Susan. It’s good to see you and Herb have become a blogging family. I’ll pop in from time to time to check on the two of you.

I agree about Jennifer Lopez. When you’ve got a butt that big, you don’t point it out by putting shiny stuff on it.

And by the way, if they aren’t playing in your range, don’t sing along (Gretchen Wilson). Oh, and Tim McGraw? Might wanna show up a rehearsals to find out exactly WHEN you’re expected to sing so the Lynard Skynard guy doesn’t look like he’s going to take your head off with his guitar.

Other than that, the book I was reading throughout the Grammys was pretty good.

I hear you, jw. You can usually count on the music biz for more bad behavior and far more questionable fashion, but on the whole, it was a letdown. Bring on the Oscars!
