I’m late posting about this, but we visited First Horizon Park last weekend with a group from work. What a great place! Kudos to all involved with making it a reality.
Unfortunately, my love for baseball has waned significantly over the years. It was fun while covering the Red Sox for a year or two while working in Connecticut. But after awhile, those high-priced athletes make you wonder why they deserve so much money while teachers like my mom, several aunts and my cousin toil day after day for barely legal wages.
But I digress.
The park is easy to get to and easy to get around in. Sadly, it wasn’t packed on a fantastic day — even for baseball.
Kudos also to the Rotarians who put together the playground (pics here and here. Thanks, Patrick.)
Abby, who was really into the game, didn’t make it over to the playground until late in the fifth or sixth innings, but Camille went early and didn’t want to leave!
The only way I got her to head back to our seats was the promise of ice cream.
Susan loved it, too. I can foresee several Friday evening outings at the park in our future. I hope we’re joined by more people.
I must say I’m proud of what’s happening in Greensboro. Now, if we only had pro football…
