At one time in my life I looked like this. Then I got sick. Actually, I stopped playing football. And really, I never looked like this.
JR is in my MBA cohort at Elon. In fact, he went there for his undergrad. And he’s still there working as a Web developer. Do all Web developers look like this? Sure!
He doesn’t always look like this. He got all gussied up for the 14th annual Alamance County Bodybuilding Championships this past weekend. And he didn’t do too bad either.
He finished second in his weight class and the guy that beat him ended up winning the whole darn thing. The guy was 12 years JR’s senior, which meant he had 12 more years of pumpin’ iron under his rather large wings.
We’d heard a lot about JR’s preparations for this competition, including the diet and the fact that his mom had to paint him for the competition. It’s the first time she’d seen him in the full monty in a long, long time. JR’s wife missed all the fun, unfortunately.
Congrats, JR. I know you worked really hard for this. Oh, and I’m glad you enjoyed the cheese fries afterward.
