A wee bit o’ sand

Beach girls'' width=So, I had to leave our vacation early for an exam. But for the second straight year (knock on wood), we had great weather for most of the vacation. We’ve been very lucky some good friends have a place in Morehead City, where we used to and they still do dive from. Our friends are actually going diving this weekend.

We spent most of the time at the beach. The house is in town, but only a 10-minute ride to a great public access area. We’d get up and head out to the beach by 10 or 11 each morning and stay until 2 or 3. The girls loved it. Abby enjoyed wading out and riding the waves with us. Camille, well, she’s still a little more conservative. She was content hanging out in the surf and playing.

When we decided to soak in some sun, the girls played in the surf, frolicking around like they were in a ’40s flick. They’d lay on their backs and on their stomachs and let the water wash over them and giggle. It was fun to watch.

But, with all good things, there is a price to pay. When we returned to the house, we’d strip them down and hose them off before plopping them in the shower. And we’d find huge amounts of sand in their bathing suits in places it shouldn’t be. At one point, Susan had to cut a hole in one of Camille’s bathing suits to wash out the sand.

While I was back at home on Friday, Susan, the girls and our friends got an early look at the HMS Bounty. I’ll post pics as soon as Susan gets back.
