I hope it DOESN’T last. August 8th and we still don’t have word from our elementary school about Abby’s teacher.
I guess they’re too concerned about this bit of news.
Let’s kick it into gear guys!

Herb,
My guess is that you’ll receive the information this week.
I’ll have to double-check, but I think our middle school schedules go out sometime this week.
Teachers have it worse, at least at my school.
Students (and parents) will know who their teachers are before we’ll receive our student lists.
We usually receive those the day before or the day of our open houses. Sometimes students and/or parents will come by the school before then and tell us that the child is on our team or in our class, and it’s news to us.
And usually, there are last-minute tweaks and of course new additions.
All school staff members are concerned about the recently released ABC and AYP results, but that probably hasn’t affected schedules going out.
Hope Abby gets a great teacher and has a great school year!
Sincerely,
Hardy
We love her school. There have been some issues with teachers moving, and we’re concerned about that. But, all in all, we’re happy.
In her first two years, she’s had outstanding teachers. Unfortunately, she’s had three principals during that same time, four if you count a principal’s leave (replaced by the same fill-in from the previous year).
I’m not as concerned by the ABCs or AYPs as some parents are right now. We have another year to go before testing starts. I have mixed feelings about the goals of the testing.
Coming from a large family of teachers (I considered it once, but my higher education came late, and now I can’t afford to be a teacher), I can empathize with what is happening in public education.
I spent the majority of my schooling in private school and didn’t have to worry about this type of testing.
If my memory serves me, we knew earlier last year who her teacher would be, and we had a better idea of who she could have. We have less information about the teachers this year because of the staff changes.
