Another dispatch for NOLA

I figured out Eddie is using his Blackberry to send dispatches. Here’s another:

I will be returning home for a few days to re stock and
can send some photos. I am based in Gulfport, MS for now. There is no
power where I am but they say it will be restored soon. The
Gulfport/Biloxi Airport remains closed, unless your Air Force One. G W
landed yesterday for a tour of the area. Regardless of your political
party it is an awsome sight to actually see that huge airplane up close.
I am just across the street from the airport and it came in just over our
heads. I wish it carried a little more brain power. Opps, guess the
donkey is out of the barn.

There are many wonderful organizations helping people.
The guys and gals in the National Guard are distributing tons of ice and
water in one of our parking lots. The line forms every morning at about
6AM ( just past curfew) and never ends until about 8PM. I see people pushing
their cars through 4 hour lines just to save the gas. It’s amazing what we
take for granted. I volunteer at night helping the local police deliver
food and water to their officers. These guys get little sleep. Gulfport
is relativly safe and I can’t even begin to image what New Orleans is like.
I hear the horrific radio reports but have not seen TV for well over a
week. Time to turn in. Thanks again for posting the news and your kind
words.

Aja, I can’t imagine how hard it must be. When I was in the Nat’l Guard, I understood I’d have to be called in case of just such an emergency. But for folks who go unbidden, my hat is off to them.
