What a cool bike

Abby’s been doing quite well learning to ride her bike without training wheels. She’s got the balancing and steering part down pretty good. She’s still having a little trouble with the takeoffs and stops, but learning very quickly.

After a lesson this Sunday, I promised we’d visit the bike shop and take a look at bikes, because she’s outgrowing her current one. We stopped in Cycles D’Oro and were greeted by a very tall, very fit guy with dreadlocks (it was obvious by his physique that he was an avid rider). But the first thing that caught my eye was a cool looking bike (pic above). It’s a folding bicycle by Chrysler of all companies and it will fold to less than about 3 cubic feet of cargo space. It’s actually made to complement the PT Cruiser.

A very cool idea. Not practical for serious riders (one speed and small wheels) and kind of expensive (between $200 and $250), but for those of you reading this that go to college and need some quick transportation that will get you from one side of campus to another faster than your feet, it might be an option.

There are a few other models if you don’t like the Chrysler, including ones from Dodge, Jeep and Dahon.

We did find something for Abby that she liked a lot: the Giant Frantic. It’s on Santa’s list.
