Uh, I missed posting a link to my podcast with reporter Mark Binker last week. We talked about the lottery and what it means to North Carolina. Ah, those cagey legislators got it past us asleep-at-the-wheel voters. There were a few vocal detractors, but with polls showing 60 percent to 70 percent support, I guess the people got what they wanted.
For me, I’m always going to be partial to Virginia. That U.S. 220 ride is sweet. Very relaxing. I haven’t made it in awhile ’cause I keep losing, plus I’ve been too busy with stuff going on around here.
That said, Susan rode up to Roanoke today for a seminar on young readers (an oxymoron when it comes to newspapers, some say). I made her buy a couple of tickets for the $200 million Mega Millions drawing (Hey, I can dream.). Funny thing is, I had to write out instructions for her on how to play!
