Camille’s day care is doing something very cool this month. Each child has a special day where they become “The Apple of Our Eye.” They do a poster of their pictures. They bring in a special snack for their classmates. They bring in their favorite book. And they get to be the center of attention.
That’s usually not a problem for Camille. But it made me think back to when she was born. The pic of the week is her that first week after she was born when had a slight case of pneumonia. She was born a few weeks early because Susan’s pregnancy was complicated by placenta previa, which meant she was going to have a C-section. When was the only question.
When Camille was born, we noticed early on that she was having trouble breathing. When the doctors couldn’t stabilizer her, I got worried. It was hard, too, because Susan was out of it for hours from the anesthesia and I couldn’t tell her what was going on with our new baby.
Well, Camille healed pretty well. And that lung issue? She’s louder than anyone in a four-mile radius.
So, here’s to looking back and looking forward.
By the way, Camille chose pineapple cups for her special snack and a Clifford the Big Red Dog book for reading.
What did her poster look like? Click here to find out.
