Anticipation is making me wait

Apple logoAs the second half of Friendly Center rises from the ashes of the old Burlington Industries building, we wait patiently for word of new and interesting stores that would keep us in The ‘boro.

Years ago, Susan and I plotted and wished for a Macaroni Grill to come to Friendly Center. Poof! It came.

Then, of course, we went on Atkins, which doesn’t play well with pasta.

But we were on a roll.

Weeks ago, I told Susan that two more of our favorite stores and we’d never leave. We got one, REI.

The other?

An Apple Store.

Well, Starmount hasn’t announced all the tenants yet. But Greensboro, nay Friendly Center, is on at least one list for a potential store.

Norfolk, those lucky dogs and home to our company’s flagship newspaper, is slated for an Apple store now.

Who knows?

Right now, I’ll still take trips to Durham as often as I can.

Why must your kind be so stubborn? “What,” you ask, “do you mean by my kind?”

    This is what I mean:
    Prof 1: jw I can’t print!
Prof 2: jw can I use your computer?
Prof 1: can anybody else print?
Prof 3: jw, is your email down?
Prof 1: I have to get this letter out. What do I do?
    Prof 1, 2, & 3: Whine, whine, whine.

jw: Y’all are on Macs, right?
    Prof 1, 2, & 3: Yesssss. Whine, whine.
jw: Here’s what you do. GET A DELL!

    JW,

Not that it’s a PC vs. Mac thing or anything like that, but have you noticed that our, meaning the paper’s, MS Exchange server has been up and down for about a week?

I worked on Dells when they couldn’t hold a candle to a Commodore 64 in a mixed Mac and PC environment.

We still managed to get the paper out every day, and to my cardiologist’s amazement, I’m alive to tell about it. Oh, and the problems were rarely on the Mac side.

BTW, as I’ve said before, regardless of whether those folks are using a Mac or a PC, I suspect you’d have the same issues.

Somebody asked me the other day how you copy a story in the system we’ve been using for two years.
