My new toy

RazrAfter four years or so, my old cell phone finally gave up the ghost. I’d been researching cell phones for at least at year on and off, but none of the phones or service plans really excited me, so I did nothing.

Then a few weeks ago, my Moto V60, cracked, whithered and broken, would not hold a charge anymore. There were more broken parts on it than could be fixed. So, I cut the cord and picked up a Razr V3c. I wasn’t completely sold, but the Treo 650 was out of my economic reach.

I like the Razr so far. There are some software issues I wish had been re-thought (each contact is a separate listing; you can’t put all numbers under one contact name), but the phone is Bluetooth enabled and I’ve done a hack to get it to link up with my Mac. Now, I can synch contacts and calendar items, albeit kind of awkwardly, but at least I’m not having to punch in the 60-or-so numbers I had in my old phone like I did with my old phone, one at a time.

I have yet to try to connect to my service provider‘s high-speed network with my my computer through my phone, which is possible.

I’ve had it only a week, but being without a cell for seven days was painful for me and for Susan.

    Herb:
Is this the one you keep in a special place set on vibrate?

Yeah. It has three different levels of vibrate. I keep it on tsunami.

I love the form factor…That is a gorgeous phone. I’ve bee admiring them for about a year or more!! I do admit the Treo has great functionality for my job – but the razr is SEXY.. I guess that’s why you put the vibration on Tsunami ;-) .

Ah yes, it is rather sexy.

But believe it or not, the tsunami vibration is functional. I don’t have a holster for it yet, so I have to keep it in my pocket.

I can’t tell you how many phone calls I’ve missed on my old phone when it was in my pocket and on vibrate because the vibration was, well, unsatisfactory.

Also, the phone is much louder. Much, much louder. Which is one reason we might be upgrading Susan’s phone in the near future, too. She’s got one of the best phones ever made, the StarTac, but its ring is pathetic. And she keeps it in her purse so that doesn’t work out very well.

[...] cstacy. After reading about Wi-Fi AND Bluetooth enabled iPods and gloriously being able to synch my phone to my computer, I’m looking forward to the future.
