Witness to a newsman

Ben Bradlee will be at Elon next week.

I got my ticket from my professor tonight. Of course, it’s not free. The class (operations management) gets to discuss the state of the newspaper industry from an operations standpoint via a discussion group set up on Blackboard.

I love navel gazing, don’t you? Geez.

Of course, the model has changed little since Gutenberg. But hey, it’s a chance to miss class, right?

He spoke at a seminar I attended at the Knight Center 10 years ago, and frankly, I wasn’t all that impressed.

Thank goodness I don’t believe he’s talking about journalism.

This is a leadership series. The way this works, he’ll give a short opening then questions will come from the audience. That’s the way the two have worked that I’ve attended.
