That’s not smarts

In North Carolina, 88 percent of eighth-graders were proficient or better in reading on the state test. On the federal test, 27 percent were.

CNN story on the gap between federal and state test scores. These folks have reported on this quite a bit. It just doesn’t feel right to me that our kids are in the middle of this game.

I didn’t have to worry about it. My wife didn’t have to worry about it. We turned out okay.

Now it’s time to make sure our kids get the best education they can. And test scores aren’t always the means to that end.
