Six sweet numbers away from livin’ the dream.
I can say this now ’cause the kids are out of town. When they return Friday (today!), I’ll probably be lookin’ for a second job and/or work toward my Ph.D.
Just kidding, dear.
I do wonder what it would be like to be a dad who can be at home. And it does scare me. I’m boring enough now! What would I do to entertain a couple of active kids?
Maybe I’ll start a list.
Wanna help dads?
- Learn to play guitar together
- Train for a kid triathlon
- Watch a cool movie
- Explore the undersea world
And on and on and on…
Just a dream. For now.

I’ve been a working mom all my life, so I’ll add to the list:
1. Go to museums
2. Take the kids to the public library and check out books together
3. Take a day trip to see the smallest library in the world and other oddities
4. Take a hike to a nearby waterfall
Ok, I’m running out time and room. Yeah, its a long list…
Sigh
We’ve got a cool waterfall! I like that one.
Living in close quarters with Erik all week at the beach qualifies me for this list.
1. Take the kids fishing and teach them to release
2. Explore the laundry mat, fold things together
3. Walk through a tidal pool, slowly
4. Cook hotdogs on the tailgate with a Coleman @the beach. Share them with all your new friends
5. Take a trash pick up hike
6. Take pictures of it all
Fishing. Susan and I have been talking about doing that.
But I’m more of a catch and eat kind of guy.
Oregon Inlet, just below the bridge. Borrow Annas 4X4 and make a day of it. Catch dinner and release the rest. Erik and I caught our dinner of crabs, mullet and croaker. What a day.
wow!! All good lists, mine is just to be AROUND more when this is all happening!!!
