It’s dark, dark, dark when I roll into the driveway at night after returning home from class. But I got a little surprise pulling in tonight.
When I hit the bump in the driveway, my lights flashed upward just enough to see a huge shadow then a mass of grey-brown feathers streaked with white barring on a fluffy chest – our owl was perched on the corner of the house.
Darn near scared the mess outta me.
I called Susan while I was still in the van. "That’s so, cool!" she said.
When I got out to walk into the house, our hooter serenaded me with a friendly little scream.
Inside, I told Susan the bird was still just hanging out on the house. And despite the fact that she’s still recovering from foot surgery, she still wanted to hobble out there to see. Of course, I talked her down.
But it was way cool to get that close.

Sounds like you’ve been adopted. There is a great deal of trust being shown there.
