PublicSquare

Looking for a calendar plugin for WordPress, I came across the site Boxes and Arrows. I really thought its calendar was a plugin for WordPress (Why? I don’t know), but as I kept looking at its functionality, I got more intrigued.

So I sent them an e-mail. One of the creators of PublicSquare, Christina Wodtke, e-mailed me back. I’m embarassed to admit I knew little of her and her resume when I sent the e-mail. She replied:

It is a stand-alone we built ourselves, although we do have plans to productize it. it’d be great to know what someone like yourself would pay for such a thing, if anything….

She’s building an interesting content managment system to be "The CMS for We Media." Some of the features include:

  1. Posting suggestions to be rated by readers for viability as stories
  2. Ratings, suggestions and comments help push story rank up
  3. Writers earn points based on their contribution rankings
  4. Writer profiles also show the stories they’ve written and comments posted by the author
  5. Comments are treated as content and can be promoted to front-page stories

And then there’s the cool calendar.

Check it out and let them — and me (in the comments) — know what you think.
