To desegregate or not, that’s the question

One view:

“I’ve come to the conclusion that kids need to be educated together. They will go to college together and work together, why not start out together?” — Mary Myers, 48, a Louisville school system parent

And another:

“Regardless of how well-motivated, allowing the state to engineer racial mixing only creates racial stereotypes and increases racial tension.” — Terry Pell, president of the Center for Individual Rights

The story says most parents support the first view. Yet this is in the hands of the Supremes because of the second view.

Could Abby’s thoughts ring true?

Anyone stupid enough to use phrases like “racial mixing” in public can be presumed to be dealing in bad faith, I don’t give a damn how sincere he tries to sound.
