Where’s the gap?

… at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro there is no (black-white)* gap. Black and white students graduate at almost the same rate. It’s one of the few schools in the country where this is true. But there is another gap at UNC-G that has attracted attention, the graduation gap between men and women – especially the big gap between black women and black men. [NC Voices: Wheres the gap? — North Carolina Public Radio WUNC]

As an alum, and a black male, I can say that UNCG provided the resources I needed to succeed. I think the school really tries to get all of its students to graduate, from the student groups, to the professors, and into the administration

And it tries really hard to include everyone.

I’ve been very happy giving back what I can the past couple of years as a member of the Alumni Association board. Looking at the board, you can get a sense of why the black-white graduation gap is nearly nonexistent.
