Sometimes, your household needs a good editor

It’s nice to have both kids interested in the newspaper in the mornings these days.

Their first stop: The weather page. Yes, they’re interested in the weather. Mostly because they wanna know what they can get away with clothing wise.

Next stop, the Life section. It’s mostly because of mommy, but they seem to find interesting things to read in there. And of course, there are the comics.

This morning, I saw this story on A2 and mentioned it to Susan. The picture did me in.*

But the unintended consequence of our shock piqued the interest of the girls.

Them: “Can we see?! Can we see?!”

Me: “Uh, no.”

Them: “Why not?”

Susan: “Because you’ll have nightmares.”

Abby: “But I already have nightmares. I have them all the time.”

Susan: “You’ll have even worse ones after this, sweetie.”

All this to say, it’s up to us as parents to make sure we know what our kids are looking at. They’ll probably see it at school anyway. We can’t hide them from everything.

*-Note: The pic was so small in the paper, I could barely see what was going on. That’s why I went to the BBC! They cropped out the good juicy parts of the pic, though.
