I take a strict anti-violence position but am having trouble reconciling that with this Fahrenheit 451 culture where we turn people in to the thought police. Yes, if he’s disturbed or threatens or stalks others, then he’s moving himself outside of society but at the same time, it’s so slippery up there when you’re turning people in who think and act differently from what you were raised to think is “normal.”

    What a slope!

There’s a privacy issue here, too, especially with a public institution. Not much info initially on the earlier incident but this kid’s pic and info is all over the place?

I think there’s a case because there is a clear and present danger with a communicated threat, but the amount of info distributed concerns me.

It’s also interesting to me that we played his pic online, but not in the paper.

Of course, if Susan was already on campus…

This is one we should think long and hard about.
