Kyle family finds thousands of bees, 60 pounds of honey
… There are bee problems, and then there are bee problems. Warren and Linda Cox have the latter. One of the two trailers on their property has been infested with bees for eight years. They live in one trailer and keep old furniture and gardening equipment in the other, and that storage trailer has become home to some nasty neighbors. …
Until Sunday, they never realized the extent of the infestation. Rodriguez went to work tearing apart the trailer and found floorboards and walls covered with inches-thick layers of combs flowing with honey. He also found thousands upon thousands of bees.
Inside the trailer were three full bee colonies and more than 60 pounds of pure honey.
“There is usually three (thousand) to five thousand bees in a colony,” Rodriguez said.
That means the Coxes could have had as many as 15,000 bees in the trailer.
