To follow up my previous post, last night was pretty eventful. We actually got out of the movie early, too early actually.
We were homebound by 9:20. Usually, we try not to get home until after the babysitter has put the kids to bed. But when we showed up, the lights were still on. Just as I was about to swing into the driveway, Susan said, “Wait! Drive around the block. Maybe they’re on their way to bed.”
It wasn’t to be. The kids and the babysitter were finishing up High School Musical 2. We’d have to get the kids in bed.
Then all heck broke loose.
Abby had already shown us she had a couple of loose teeth. One was particularly painful. So while they watched the end of HSM, Susan wiggled it out of Abby’s mouth. It’s been months since she lost her last tooth. This one came out pretty easily. No complaints from Abby.
Abby’s lost a bunch of teeth. Camille? Despite thinking she was ready for her first to come out months ago, she’s still got a full set of baby choppers. Like her umbilical cord we thought would never fall off, she’s holding on to her body parts for dear life.
We sent them upstairs to brush teeth. Then Camille dropped the toothpaste cap down the drain. We spent about 20 minutes trying to retrieve it. We saw it at first, but couldn’t reach it. This morning, it was out of sight.
The kids finally got into bed about 10:30, two nights in a row of late-night shenanigans for them.
The moral of this story: Let the babysitter put them to bed.
