Pretty in pink

It’s only a vacuum cleaner?

No. It’s a Dyson.

dyson_pinkvacuum.jpgWe’ve been very unhappy for some time with our cleaning implements. We’ve probably gone through three cheaper models in the past three or four years. So, we started looking at the Dysons.

A few months ago, we were at Target when they had a great deal: Buy a Dyson, get a $100 gift certificate. We debated and debated, but ultimately when we made the decision to buy one, the deal was gone.

We bided our time and the deal came around again about two weeks ago. But the model we wanted, the DC07 Animal, wasn’t available (comparison of the two models here). We wanted the animal because, forgive the thought, we’ve been thinking seriously about getting a dog. And if we got one and it stayed in the house, we wanted to make sure we could get the house clean because of all of us allergic people.

We decided on the DC07, though, because it was a special “pink” edition. If you bought the pink model, $40 would be donated to breast cancer research.

On a side note, we chatted with a woman before we went into the store who had a Save the Ta-Tas bumper sticker on her van. We learned that she was a breast cancer survivor. Considering so many friends who have survived or didn’t over the past few years, we were inspired when we walked into the store.

We really didn’t need the kids’ approval to buy one, but Camille felt like she needed to compliment us on the purchase. And compliment us. And compliment us.

I don’t know whether this is healthy or not, but she kept hugging the box. When we unpacked it, she kissed the vacuum. Yep. She actually kissed it. Because it’s pink, like all things Barbie.

“Mommy, the pink vacuum rocks!”

Whenever she sees it, she says, “The pink vacuum rocks!”

You tell me, is this healthy?

You have to love her enthusiasm! Also, you never have to guess how she feels about something. She lets you know! I have to laugh!!

Hopefully she’ll learn, up close and personal, how it WORKS!

She runs from the vacuum when it’s on right now. Something about the noise … And the work.
