Capturing the pre-pre-teen market

There are some marketing geniuses in this world. I’m not one of them. But if any idea out there couldn’t be more of a sure thing, then it’s Club Libby Lu.

I just returned from picking up Camille at a Libby Lu birthday party for one of her friends.

It’s all girl. It’s an assault on pink, fuzzy and fun.

I’d never heard of it until Susan informed me of it’s many amazing charms for girls. Some parents aren’t giving it rave reviews, though.

Camille had a good time, but was more concerned about coming home to be with Abby who was having a sleepover with a friend. Camille actually wanted to ditch the party to hang out with the “bigger” girls. She thinks she’s 14 already.

On Saturday, Susan’s taking them back to Leon’s Beauty School (click the link, you’ll like it) for their weekly makeover. We’ve taken them there couple of times and those students sure do a nice job on our girls’ hair. They’re also not as expensive as going to a salon for their hair. It’s not as fun as when Susan does it – they get to watch TV at home, but have to sit patiently for two-to-three hours at Leon’s.

It’s all about the braids, and attitude. Here’s an example of both after their first trip to Leon’s:
