One of these two happy fellas hopefully will be joining us next weekend. We spent most of Saturday afternoon visiting. All four of the pups mobbed Abby. I thought she was going to cry she was so happy. Nothing but laughs and giggles the whole time. I think her cheeks are still hurting.
Near the end of our visit, Camille finally got involved. She was definitely afraid most of the time and stood outside the fenced area, but in her own inimitable way came around and let the puppies pounce.
On the way home we named him (whichever one it will be): Pippin.
The pups are Lakeland Terriers, from all accounts a wonderful breed. We’ve been searching for awhile and finally found the right size and temperament for our house - we hope.
Most of the dogs bred at this kennel in Mebane are show dogs. In fact, they’re famous for their Airedale Terriers and we saw why. They were magnificent dogs and of a very similar temperament as the Lakelands but about two to three sizes larger, too much dog for us.
The Lakelands grow to about 14 inches from ground to shoulder and should weigh less than 20 pounds. We met the parents, too. Dad is just wonderful. Mom, while a bit jittery, was a great dog, too.

Aja: You would have loved them. Little fluff balls. The breeder’s going to trim them and start to crate train them. She needs to decide which one she’s going to keep to show. They were all adorable. I’ll post more pics.
